Incredible - this park is a hidden treasure. Amongst all of the chaos and concrete that makes up the Houston metro area, Huntsville State Park is a refuge for communion with nature. This is the only park I’ve found in the Houston area that offers hikes nestled in nature with the added layer of elevation changes. The staff are always pleasant and the park is well taken care of. Went this past Saturday, mainly to canoe or kayak only to find they weren't offering these services they say....on a Saturday??!! Lots of what seemed to be burnt trees, chopped down trees,... They did have rangers driving around helping people find their way( I'm not advanced hiker), so that was nice.

Good state park, brought own kayaks and love Lake Raven! We had spot 151 which was on the water. Public path goes right behind it to the fishing dock though so fyi. Wish park store had magnets, hiking medallions for our collection but they dont. Tables and fire rings are weird too, some are behind your camper on opposite side of your door which is not convenient. Some pads also are not level s

Awesome serene place, nice and calm place to spend some quality time out and away from the rushy Houston.
Things are good, but should have some more rest rooms open, and the one that are open we're not that clean and managed.
I paid 7$ per person to enter the park.

We stayed in campsite #117.
While the scenery at the park is excellent, there were several areas where the experience could be improved. Our campsite was quite large, but the significant slope made it difficult to set up. Additionally, we found the restrooms to be poorly maintained during our visit. Lastly, the gift shop selection was disappointing, as it lacked the variety of state park merchand

Good park, but needs some help on the northernmost side of the trails. It appears they upgraded the raised trail, but threw the old parts, nails and all, into the swampy area right next to it. It just looks trashy. These old parts have been there for over a year.
I have a parks pass so I go to multiple state parks per year and this is not something I see at other parks after trail improvement

Amazing state park! The pine trees are a lovely change from cedars and junipers and the lake is perfect for everything from kayaking to swimming to paddle boarding. The trails are easy to walk and mostly shaded, which is great in the Texas heat. We spent a lot of time just wandering, sitting by the water, and watching wildlife — we saw deer and tons of birds. The park is clean and well cared for,

Great place for modern camping. Power and water hookups and nice wooded trails and scenery. Also have some great water to explore complete with 🐊. I’ll be back! $7 per person. Season $70 with discounted camping sites
